Look at this. My top bar just disappeared. Wat. It seems fine after a restart but....... I'm very worried.

But how?
I was told by rabid Apple fanboysandgirls that Apple stuff never goes wrong.

I am a fan of OSX but I’ve been having more and more issues lately. It’s straight up crashed on me and gave me a warning saying “Your computer has encountered an issue. Restart pending. All unsaved changes will be lost.”

I didn’t touch anything though. It just sorta went away.

My top bar also usually disappears, but only when Safari is active.

How old is it?

Do you have Safari open in full screen?

Apparently Windows 10 is bad too, but I haven’t had anything bad. Yet.
Conclusion: skip anything with X or 10 in it.
![]() 05/06/2016 at 11:36 |

Did you do that on purpose?
![]() 05/06/2016 at 11:36 |

But XP was awesome.

Yep!

See... You did that for yourself. I didn’t want that.

Conclusion #2: skip anything numbered with an X or 10?

My stupid ass imac crashes all the damn time.

Windows 10 has been awesome for me - zero complaints. Microsoft also got a browser that isn’t garbage finally, edge browser is nice.

Did you upgrade your OS? I have read that, it will do some things, ie take more memory and make it clunky.
![]() 05/06/2016 at 11:41 |
|
Yes, but sometimes it stays gone until safari is completely shut of “command Q" and sometimes just minimizing Safari will solve it.

It hasn’t gotten noticeably slower with the update. It just suddenly disappeared, although the update is a good guess.

Have you tried holding it up and shaking it?
![]() 05/06/2016 at 11:46 |

Doesn’t have a hard drive so should be no problem.

Nope. It just disappeared.

Try logging on as another user, same thing?
Any weird things in startup?
![]() 05/06/2016 at 11:52 |

Stupid question: Have you restarted it?
![]() 05/06/2016 at 11:54 |

It appears fine after a restart.
![]() 05/06/2016 at 11:56 |

It took a really long time to start but after it feels fine.

One thing: check in your activity monitor for any common processes that are running when you get the problem. Another thing: could be a hardware issue, such as bad RAM. If you have anything that makes you suspect that, you could try swapping out RAM chips to see if it goes away, but that’s kind of a shot in the dark. Final thing: Make sure you’re doing backups on a schedule with Time Machine or some other program. This will save your ass one day.

Good deal. I have been a Mac user since OS 8. I am now on 10.9, and I’ve got to say, I think Apple is really slipping in the QC department since Jobs’ death. There are bugs in this OS that were never addressed, seemingly in the headlong pitch to keep putting out something new and flashy rather than refining what they already have. I’ve had more problems since going to 10.9 than I ever did with 10.7. I think I’ll have to go to El Capitan soon, just in the hopes that things work better.

don’t I know it. my iPhone 6S experienced a data loss incident which pushed me back into the arms of Windows Phone.
Windows.

That's unfortunate on multiple levels

not really. I prefer the UI of windows phone. I don’t care about any of the iPhone’s features when it seems like it can decide that 70 GB of data just suddenly doesn’t exist anymore.
